DREAMS NOT PURSUED
My dream was to be a professional football player. But even though I had some talent, my parents told me I should focus on my studies. I couldn't study what I wanted. I have a Bachelor degree in something I didn't care about. I have a Masters. I did what I was expected to do.
Knocking doors. Selling books.
After my Masters, I just wanted to work. My first job was selling encyclopaedias door to door. I hated that job and never thought about having a career in sales. The 'problem' was that I was good at selling.
Successful & unfulfilled career
From that job I went to a better one and so on. I was successful but I often felt unfulfilled. How did I manage? I didn't know at the time, but unconsciously, I was uncovering and connecting my purpose with the one of my company.
IKIGAI & OTHER INSPIRATION
20 years in sales and sales leadership role and I didn't truly like sales! Through all those years, I often asked myself what else could I do that wasn't selling. I came across The Blue Zones research and other studies that inspired me to develop my own methodology to uncover my purpose. Now I help people and companies do the same.
Mr. Purpose?
I have helped many companies and people to uncover and align their purpose. Some people even call me Mr. Purpose. 🙂

Chris Blackwell fundamentally disagrees with the prevalent business narrative that there is a conflict between being profit focused or between being purpose focused!
He believes that purpose is THE vital ingredient to achieve high performance and sustained growth.
Chris worked as a CEO and senior Executive in purpose-led organisations that achieved incredible growth, became number one in their markets and were recognised on seven occasions as being amongst the Top 100 employers in the UK. Chris is also a ScaleUp coach supporting Tech businesses in Birmingham and a Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts.
